Greetings to all. As Chairman of the Crescent Medical Centre Ltd., (CMC), I have immense pleasure in presenting this website to the public. I hope this will give a brief glimpse of our Mission, Vision and past & present activities of Crescent.

We had sowed the first seed for this noble project in 1993, amidst many insecurities and grumble. Considering the socio-economic backwardness of the locality, venturing into one of the most capital intense enterprises with meager resources and very low profit expectation was indeed a challenge for us. More than financial gain, the attitude to help the poor and the sick bestowed to us the vigor to traverse this treacherous path.

To establish a primary health care centre was the initial objective of CMC. At that time, better health care facility was about 25 kilometers away from Alathur and advanced health care was at least 50 Kilometers away. So we started the Hospital in 1997 with 50 beds inpatient capacity.

The endeavor turned out to be a huge success from the first day of its inception. This gave us the inspiration to stand for the cause and aim higher. That is what Crescent Medical Centre been doing all these years which is evident from the phased progress it has been achieving steadily through years.

We have increased the Hospital’s bed strength to 300 beds by commissioning another three storeyed block in 2004. Psychiatry Department with full fledged inpatient facility was started in 2005. This also turned out to be a successful venture since it was the first of its kind in our District. The department for Geriatric (old Age ) care was also started; with the aim of providing a peaceful and protected abode for the aged people who need constant medical care and help for sustenance.

Crescent Medical Centre had envisaged establishing Health Care Education Institutions under its auspices. Thus the Crescent School of Nursing was started in 2000 and the Crescent College of Nursing was started in 2005.

In the current scenario, health care is more and more aiming towards prevention than cure. Sophisticated equipments for quick and early diagnosis of diseases are being invented constantly and rapidly. Our Nation remains in par with other developed countries in this respect. Indian Healthcare is being recognized as one of the best and Medical Tourism is a flourishing business now a days.

Human Life has acquired more agility and virility by the intervention of modern medicine. It starts right from the womb and aims at delaying the grave. We have brought down the Infant Mortality Rate from 64 to 46 within the last 12 years. In Kerala the infant mortality rate is way below all world and Indian standards. In Kerala only 12 out of 1000 children die on birth while the Indian rate was 46 and the world rate was 37 in 2011. Kerala has also the highest Life Expectancy among the Indian states. The Life expectancy of Kerala is 77 as compared to the national index of 68.

All this has been made possible by imbibing the latest in technologies and techniques of the medical field. India is the largest supplier of Medical Manpower to the world. Skilled workers and Professionals make the field more competitive.

Hospitals and Health care centres are on an increase in India. More and More Corporate Teams have come into play in this arena. The aim of Crescent Medical Centre is to compete with high standards of Health Care delivery at affordable rates. We continuously improve our Service and Infrastructure. Latest Medical equipments are always added as and when required. Service of Specialist Doctors are made available all the time.

No doubt the prohibitive cost of investment for new machinery and scarcity of professionals have made healthcare delivery an expensive affair. We have strived our best not to turn this burden to the common people. We have kept our rates in restraint compared with other centers offering similar facilities.

Health Care education also receives good priority in Crescent Medical Centre. We plan to start Post Graduate Nursing Institute, Para medical Institute, Allied medical Courses and Medical College in due course of Time.
